Newnan, GA : Hogansville man killed in crash on Monday, January 2nd 2017
A fatal car crash remains under investigation as officials await toxicology tests and try to determine the contributing causes.
Investigators believe weather and speed may have been a factor.The driver was identified as Christopher Worthy, 33, of Hogansville.The crash occurred just after 8 p.m. Monday when Worthy was traveling south along the 900 block of Minnie Sewell Road in Grantville, according to Trooper Justin Hogan with the Georgia State Patrol.
According to Hogan, Worthy appeared to have hydroplaned, spun off the left side of the road into a ditch, hit a culvert and then flipped onto the roof of his car.
Members of the Coweta County Fire Department were able to extricate Worthy from the car after roughly 30 minutes, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by Coweta County Coroner Richard Hawk. Worthy was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, Hogan said.
