Indianapolis ,IN : Two Indianapolis officers hurt in crashes near Indianapolis Motor Speedway; 1 has broken ankle on Sunday ,July 26th 2015
Indianapolis police say one of two officers injured in separate accidents near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway suffered a broken ankle.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Richard Riddle said the male officer had successful surgery on the broken ankle.
Police say the officer was injured Sunday when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle.
Riddle also says that a female officer complained of arm and neck pain after a pickup truck collided with her patrol car. He says the driver of the pickup refused treatment at the scene.
Speedway Police Lt. Trent Theobald says the female officer was released after treatment at a hospital.
The names of the two officers were not immediately released.
The speedway was the site of NASCAR's Brickyard 400 race Sunday.
