I-85 northbound partially reopens in Troup County following fatal truck wreck

A truck driver died early Thursday when his tractor-trailer collided with another truck in a fiery crash that shut down all northbound lanes of I-85 in west Georgia for hours.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, both trucks were traveling northbound in the right lane of I-85 near Mile Marker 18 in Troup County around 6:20 a.m. when one of the trucks rear-ended the other truck.

The truck in the rear caught fire, killing the driver of that truck.

The other trucker, Adrian Dejuan Tillman, 41, of High Point, N.C., was injured and taken to West Central Health Center for treatment.
The name of the deceased driver was being withheld until relatives could be notified.

One of the northbound lanes of I-85 reopened early Thursday afternoon but the site will not be cleared until late afternoon. Traffic was being routed off the interstate at Exit 14.
