Leesburg, FL : Clermont motorist reportedly clocked at 132, crashes on Tuesday, January 17th 2017
A Clermont man was jailed on reckless driving charges Tuesday after he reportedly plowed into a garbage truck during what cops say was a drag race on the Florida Turnpike.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Daniele Heller was driving south in a 2013 Nissan 370Z, near West Colonial Drive in Orange County.
Heller attempted to pass the garbage truck by using the left shoulder of the road, but lost control and hit a barrier wall.
The Nissan then veered back into the southbound lanes and struck the truck.
A FHP report adds a trooper had clocked the Nissan at 132 mph just before the crash.
Heller, 20, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. He was then taken to the Orange County Jail, where he was released after posting a $500 bond.
The truck driver, Carlos Guivas, 60, of Deltona, was uninjured.
