A 29-year-old Hamilton man died Saturday, June 18, in a car crash.

According to Michigan State Police, Matthew Martinez was killed in the single-car crash, which happened about 7:20 p.m. on 140th Avenue near 42nd Street.

Police said Martinez apparently crossed the centerline and left the road; his car then crashed into a field on the north side of 140th Avenue and flipped over.

He was not wearing a seat belt, police said, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Overisel Township Fire Department, AMR Ambulance and the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office assisted state police in dealing with the crash.
