Rochester, NY : Two hurt, one airlifted, after a single-car motor vehicle accident on Route 125 near the Rochester Country Club on Thursday night, November 20, 2014
Two Barrington woman were hurt, one badly, when a minivan crashed on Route 125 late Thursday night near the Rochester Country Club.
Deana Spencer, 42, a passenger, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, according to Rochester police. Spencer was transported by Frisbie Paramedics to Skyhaven Airport where she was flown to Maine Medical Center by a DART helicopter.
The accident happened at around 11:43 p.m. Rochester police, fire, Frisbie EMS and Dover EMS responded to the report of a single-car motor vehicle accident on Gonic Road, near the country club. The accident was reported to be a rollover with injury where one person was out of the vehicle and the other was still inside.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Dodge Caravan, driven by Shauntelle Fitts, 25, of Barrington, was traveling south on Gonic Road when the vehicle struck the guardrail, crossed over into the opposite lane of travel, went down the embankment, rolled over and struck a tree.
The vehicle was discovered resting on the driver’s side with the roof against a tree.
Fitts was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The vehicle suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time, however neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors.
