LLOYD, NY : 2 die in 2-vehicle crash on Hudson River bridge on Wednesday, January 11th 2017
Authorities say two people are dead after a driver who was fleeing the scene of a stabbing assault crashed head-on into another car on a Hudson River bridge.
Police say the 2:30 a.m. Wednesday crash on the Mid-Hudson Bridge killed both drivers. State police identify them as 31-year-old Steven Vaughan of Poughkeepsie and 50-year-old Mark Ashby of Accord. Ashby’s passenger was hospitalized.
Troopers say an investigation revealed that Vaughan had been involved in a stabbing incident in Poughkeepsie and was driving west at high speed when he crossed into the eastbound lane. No details about the stabbing were available.
The bridge carries U.S. Route 44 over the river 70 miles north of New York City.
