Fontana motorcyclist dies on Ortega Highway
A 24-year-old Fontana motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident Saturday morning on Ortega Highway near the county line, the California Highway Patrol said.At about 10:57 a.m., the motorcyclist was riding east on Ortega at 60 to 65 mph, according to the CHP.His speed left him unable to navigate a curve in the roadway and he crossed over double yellow lines into the westbound lane, the CHP said.He collided head-on with a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 52-year-old man from Indio, the CHP said.The Fontana man was ejected from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.Fire and CHP officials blocked off the roadway near the accident, but reopened the road around 12:40 p.m., according to the CHP website.
