Salem, MA : Two rollover accidents only a few miles apart on I-95 on Monday, November, 6th 2017
Two rollover accidents only a few miles apart on I-95 south and on the ramp from Route 128 north to Interstate 95 north kept state police busy near the Danvers/Peabody line for much of Monday afternoon.
According to Massachusetts State Police, a 10-wheeler dump truck was on the Route 128 northbound ramp to I-95 north, bound for Epping, New Hampshire, at approximately 12:30 p.m., when it rolled over on the right hand side of the highway, dumping much of its load of topsoil on the shoulder of the road.
The driver was uninjured, but getting the large dump truck back on their wheels was a complicated operation that was not completed until after 3 p.m.
State police said the driver is expected to be cited, but they did not give the charges.
Meanwhile, at 2:12 p.m., state police responded to Interstate 95 southbound just south of Route 114, in the vicinity of the Danvers-Peabody line, for a two-vehicle accident in which one rolled over.
State police said the two vehicles were headed in the same direction when a Honda Element struck the rear of a Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.
The collision forced the Hyundai Santa Fe off the right side of the road and onto the shoulder, where it rolled onto its side, and the Honda Element came to rest in the median.
The Santa Fe driver, a 56-year-old Lynn woman, was transported to Beverly Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Element had not been charged as of last night, but the accident is still under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police.
Both vehicles were total losses, according to state police, and were towed.
That accident scene was cleared before 3 p.m.
