A 15-year-old boy riding a bicycle was injured when he was hit by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon on Route 20 in Pomfret, New York, Chautauqua County, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
The boy, of Brocton, New York, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Hamot for treatment of serious injuries, authorities said.
A vehicle driven by Nicholas D. Galardo, of Fredonia, New York, was heading west on Route 20 and the boy was eastbound on Route 20 when he entered the roadway in front of Galardo’s vehicle, which struck the boy, authorities said.
Galardo was unable to avoid hitting the boy, according to the sheriff’s office.
The incident happened at about 1:24 p.m. Galardo was not charged in the accident, authorities said.
