Belleview,KY : Fatal crash kills 2, injures 1 in Bell Co. on August, Wednesday 30th 2017
Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan received a call from Bell County Dispatch at 9:41 p.m. about a two-vehicle collision on KY 221 in the Pineville community of Bell County, according to a news release from KSP.
Trooper Joey Brigmon and Trooper George Howard from Post 10 responded to the collision and located two deceased females inside of a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser.
Preliminary investigation by KSP indicates the Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling west on KY 221 when the vehicle dropped off the right side of the road and stuck the guardrail. The vehicle then crossed the center line into the path of a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was traveling east on KY 221, the release states. The PT Cruiser was stuck in the passenger’s side. Both females inside of the PT Cruiser were pronounced deceased at the scene by Bell County Deputy Coroner Don Horton.
After contacting the families, Bell County Coroner Jay Steele released that the operator of the PT Cruiser was Melissa Saylor, 49, of Arjay. The passenger in the vehicle was Katrina Coots, 26, of Middlesboro. Both died from injuries they received as a result of the accident.
A release from KSP identified the operator of the Chevrolet Trailblazer as Angela Eldridge, 46, of Pineville. Eldridge was transported from the scene to Pineville Hospital and was listed in stable condition. She was listed in stable condition as of Thursday morning.
KSP troopers along with KSP Accident Reconstructionist Mike Cornett were investigating the collision at the scene.
The Bell County Sheriff’s Department, Bell County Fire Department, Bell County EMS and Bell County Deputy Coroner assisted at the scene.
