PIERCE, NE : 1 killed, 2 injured in Pierce crash on Highway 30 on Tuesday, 1st January 2019

One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash in Pierce County on New Year's Day.

Deputies arrived around 5:40 p.m. after receiving a call about a two-car accident on Highway 30 about two miles south of Plainview.The two vehicles collided head-on, officials said.

An 80-year-old Creighton man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two others in the second car were trapped inside and were helped by Plainview officials.

The first victim was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital and the second was taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The investigation is ongoing.

The names of those involved will not be released until family has been notified.
