Oakland, CA :Driver and dog killed after Fatal collision off of Highway 4 on Saturday afternoon ,July 4th 2015
A driver and a dog died in a single-vehicle accident that was first reported Saturday afternoon just off Highway 4 east of Black Springs Road.
California Highway Patrol officers arrived to find a 2005 Subaru Outback with the driver and dog dead of multiple traumatic injuries. Officers determined that the Subaru had lost control and careened down a steep hill before rolling over and colliding with a tree.
According to the Alpine County Sheriff’s Department, the car has been identified as belonging to Catherine Feist, who had been reported missing on July 1. The report said that Feist had been en route to Bear Valley with her dog Trixie. The CHP determined that the collision occurred on July 1.
The driver was found to be wearing her seatbelt. The cause of the accident is under investigation. The identity of the victim is being withheld by the Calaveras County Coroner’s office and CHP until relatives have been notified.
