STRATFORD, CT : One dead and two badly injured in early-morning Merritt crash on Sunday, November, 5th 2017
State police are investigating early-morning crash on the Merritt Parkway in Stratford that has left one person dead and two others with serious injuries.
Troopers say that at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, two vehicles traveling southbound collided, sending both cars into the guard rails. One of the vehicles flipped over the guardrail near Exit 53, rolled down an embankment and its three occupants were ejected.
Jordan A. Soares, 27, of Dayton Road, Bridgeport, was declared dead after arriving at Bridgeport Hospital. He was a front-seat passenger in the car that flipped over, a 2013 Infiniti JX35 sport-utility vehicle. He was also listed as the owner of the SUV.
The driver of the SUV, listed as Wilner Agramonte, 18, of Terrace Circle, Bridgeport, received serious injures. Also badly injured was a third occupant of the Infiniti, Belnar Agramonte, 20, also of Terrace Circle; he was sitting in the back seat. Belnar was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Wilnar was transported to Bridgeport Hospital.
The other vehicle involved in the crash, a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300, was driven by Nelson Felipe Hernandez, 22, of Woodlawn Avenue Extension, Bridgeport. Hernandez, along with two female passengers, were not injured, police say.
The Mercedes-Benz struck the guardrail on the median side of the highway, while the Infiniti flipped over the right-side guardrail.
The southbound lanes were closed for a time, but have since re-opened. Ambulances from both Trumbull and Stratford EMS responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
