Nelson County, KY : Two people died after a fatal vehicle accident on US-150 near the Nelson County line on Friday afternoon, April 8, 2016
According to a press release from the Nelson County Sheriff's Office, Nelson County Sheriff deputies responded to a reported injury accident on Springfield Road shortly after 2 p.m. Upon arriving, deputies located a 2007 Toyota Camry and a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck that had struck each other head-on.
A 17-year-old male passenger of the Camry was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 47-year-old driver of the Chevrolet pickup was transported to Flaget Memorial Hospital by Nelson County EMS where he was pronounced dead. Two other 17-year-old males were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, where their condition was unknown as of Friday night. The names of those killed will be released in the future.
New Haven Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Nelson County Fire, Washington County Fire, Nelson County EMS and Washington County EMS were all on the scene. Deputy Jamie Ferrie is the lead investigator in the collision.
This is the third deadly car crash that has occurred in Nelson County over a seven-day span. Saturday, Mary E. Huddleston, of Louisville, was killed after a collision at the intersection of Templin Avenue and New Shepherdsville Road (Ky. 245). On Wednesday, William E. Goodwin, of Cox's Creek, died after injuries from a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Louisville and Fairfield roads.
