Lynchburg, VA : A 70-year old Moneta man died hit by a minivan on Tuesday, July 11, 2017
A 70-year old Moneta man died Tuesday after being hit by a minivan that veered off road in Franklin County, according to a Virginia State Police news release.
Alice S. Carr, 72, of Roanoke, was traveling east in a 2004 Honda Odyssey on Route 949 when she swerved off the highway and hit Thomas Preston Scott III, who had been driving a 1998 Craftsman Lawn mower near Lakewood Forest Drive in Franklin County, according to the release.
Scott died at the scene.Carr had been wearing a seat belt and was uninjured, police said.
It was not clear why Carr went off road.
Police said the State Police Crash Reconstruction Team was called to assist with the wreck.
VSP Trooper J. D. Eames is investigating the incident.
VSP could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.
