MARTINSVILLE, VA : 22 hurt in crash after NASCAR race on Sunday, 30th October 2016

Police say 22 people were injured in a passenger car crash after a NASCAR race.

Investigators say a Chevrolet plowed into a crowd of fans at the Martinsville Speedway parking lot Sunday afternoon after the Chevy struck another vehicle that it was trying to pass.

Officials said 13 people were treated for minor injuries at the scene. Nine others were taken to the hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

Investigators say they later interviewed the Chevy driver and alcohol does not appear to be involved.

The driver may face charges after investigators consult with a county attorney.
