The crash involved a 2015 Kenworth Conventional Truck and semi trailer operated by Arthuer O’Neal, 41, from Prichard, Alabama; a 2012 Dodge pickup occupied by Christopher Guthridge, 27, of Silverton, Oregon, and William Guthridge, 65, of Silverton; a 2001 Pontiac operated by Jamie Starboard, 37, of Baker City, and three children; and a 2012 Dodge pickup towing a flatbed trailer operated by Austin Pendell, 24, from Summerville, Oregon.
Because of the complexity of the crash and the number of vehicles involved, investigators are still working to determine the exact chain of events in the crash. Preliminary evidence and statements indicate the 2012 Dodge pickup and trailer combination initially struck the 2001 Pontiac, then a series of chain reaction crashes occurred.
William Guthridge suffered critical injuries and was transported from the crash scene by Life Flight to St. Charles Hospital in Bend.
Christopher Guthridge suffered serious injuries and was initially transported by ground ambulance to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston then transferred by Life Flight to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.

Two other children in the vehicle were transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center for evaluation.
