Waxhaw , NC : School bus driver killed after bus collided with garbabage truck in Union county on Monday , December 8th 2014
A school bus driver has died after the bus collided with a garbage truck in Union County.
No students were on the bus that wrecked in Waxhaw around 3 p.m. Monday.
Officials told local media outlets that the garbage truck crossed the center line of the road and hit the bus head-on.
Fifty-three-year-old Timothy McManus died when he was thrown from the vehicle. Investigators say he was wearing a seat belt.
McManus had been with Union County Public Schools for three years.
Troopers said the garbage truck driver will be charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
