Mattydale, NY : U.S. Route 11 in Mattydale reopens after 91-year-old driver crashes into utility pole on Monday, 30th November, 2020

Traffic is flowing again on Route 11 (Brewerton Road) Monday night, about four hours after a 91-year-old woman drove into a utility pole, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.

Ida Calcutta, of Mattydale, was leaving Burger King on Brewerton Road at 4:20 p.m. when she stepped on the accelerator and lost control of her vehicle, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber said.

The vehicle sped across U.S. Route 11 / Brewerton Road and struck a utility pole in front of Aldi grocery store, Seeber said.
