ALEXANDER, AL : Agencies respond for cleanup after milk truck accident in Alexander on Saturday, 21st November, 2020
Responders were cleaning up after a milk truck landed on its side and spilled a few thousand gallons of milk after an accident this morning at the intersection of Dry Bridge and Sandpit roads.
“Apparently the driver came down a little fast, couldn’t make the turn and rolled the truck over on its side,” Alexander Assistant Fire Chief Jim Burkhardt said. “It was a full load. It was like 71,000 pounds of milk in the truck, approximately 6,0000-7,000 gallons. We estimate about 4,000, 5,000 gallons into the stream, but we’ve been pumping that out for awhile with some pumps and getting that out of there. We’re going to flood the creek with water to dilute it even more so it doesn’t become a pollution hazard.
