Memphis, TN : 77-year-old pedestrian killed in hit-and-run outside the Cannon Center on Friday night, February 12, 2016

A 77-year-old man died after he was hit in an apparent hit-and-run outside the Cannon Center Friday night.

Police responded to the scene outside the Cannon Center on Poplar Avenue.

Investigators said the driver of the vehicle was driving down Front Street near Poplar Avenue when he or she hit the victim, who was using the crosswalk to cross the street.

The victim, identified as John J. McCommon, was taken to Regional Medical Center in critical condition, but later died.

Officers said the driver left the scene. The driver's vehicle his described as possibly a white Nissan Altima.
