Frankfort, KY : 50 children treated after buses crash during school holiday excursion on Tuesday, January 3rd 2017
The children, believed to be from a school in St Marys, were on a school holiday excursion when the collision occurred at the intersection of State Mine Gully Rd and Old Bells Line of Rd at Newnes, 10km north of Lithgow, about 4pm.There were 68 people on board both buses, including 50 children.
The crash sparked a “major emergency response” which involved police, paramedics, Fire & Rescue NSW officers, and volunteers from Lithgow VRA.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said the children — aged between six and 12 — and five adults were assessed at the scene by paramedics from 11 ambulances.NSW Police said a majority of the passengers suffered bruising but three children and one woman were taken to Lithgow Hospital for further tests.
The other children were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
