Sioux City, IA : 17-year-old male injured after a Bicycle vs. car crash in Sioux City on Thursday, July 7, 2016

A 17-year-old male was taken to UnityPoint Health -- St. Luke's in Sioux City after a car struck his bicycle near the intersection of Sixth and Hoeven streets.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Sgt. Jay Hoogendyk with the Sioux City Police Department said the bicylist was riding eastward on Hoeven Street with the flow of traffic when he changed into a lane where a vehicle was driving, and the vehicle struck his bicycle.

Hoogendyk said the cyclist was taken to UnityPoint Health -- St. Luke's as a precaution.

Sioux City Police Department, Sioux City Fire Rescue and Siouxland Paramedics responded to the scene.
