A 19-year-old Creighton University student died in an accident Monday morning in Omaha.
The crash happened just before 10 a.m. west of the 84th Street exit on Interstate 80 when a westbound semitrailer, driven by Robert Richmond of Omaha, struck the rear end of a Toyota Prius and then hit a Chrysler Sebring, forcing that car into the back end of a second semi. Lucius Hageman of Lincoln, who wasn’t injured in the crash, was driving the second semi.
The two drivers and three of the passengers in the Prius and Sebring suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A back-seat passenger in the Prius, Joan Ocampo-Yambing, of Rosemount, Minnesota, was taken to Nebraska Medicine, where she was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation.
