Peabody, MA : One man seriously injured in crash on Route 1 on Saturday morning July 26th 2014

Route 1 northbound in Peabody was briefly shut down Saturday morning after a three-car crash.

A 37-year-old Peabody man was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries after one car crashed into a pole near Lowell Street and rolled over, according to police. The crash brought down live wires that blocked the street.

Police said it appears that excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The Massachusetts State Police said the highway was partially reopened at 8:30 a.m..
