Dover, DE : Fugitives crash into car lot on Tuesday, March 21st 2017
Two people trying to get away from a state trooper were apprehended after their vehicle crashed into an automobile dealership at around 5:03 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.
The trooper spotted a 2017 Chevrolet Impala traveling erratically on State Route 1 and tried to pull it over. Instead the Impala sped up and headed onto Puncheon Run, passing other vehicles until it failed to make a right hand turn, left the highway and crashed into three vehicles in the parking lot of the Hertich Nissan dealership.
The driver, Adam D. Scott, 43, of the 100 block of Vondaway Drive, tried to run away but was caught after a trooper deployed his Taser.
The passenger, Kiauna R. Collins, 37, of the first block of East Eidman Court, was arrested without incident.
A search of the Impala turned up two bags containing 126.07 grams of crack cocaine, Fournier said.
Scott and Collins are charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (crack cocaine), possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree conspiracy.
Scott also is charged with resisting arrest, disregarding a police officer's signal, driving on a suspended or revoked license and additional traffic charges. He is being held at the Vaughn Correctional Center on a $43,504 secured bond.
Collins also is charged with hindering prosecution as well as being wanted on two outstanding warrants from Kent County courts. She has been committed to the Baylor Women's Correctional Institution on a $42,500 secured bond.
