Topeka, KS : Man injured Sunday in ATV crash at Riverside ATV Park in N.E. Topeka on Sunday, August 20, 2017
A man suffered a leg injury after the ATV he was riding crashed at Riverside ATV Park near Oakland.
The incident was reported about 4:45 p.m. Sunday. Shawnee County dispatch said the crash was reported as a rollover in which the ATV landed on a man’s leg.
According to Michael Ehmpkey, who was riding at the park at the time of the crash, a pair of ATV riders were on the trails and coming up a steep embankment from the Kansas River. The front end of one of the ATVs went up onto the embankment and then fell backwards, crashing. The driver suffered a broken femur, Ehmpkey said. He added that it was fortunate that they were riding in pairs as the other rider was able to get help.
The Shawnee County Park Police, Topeka Fire Department and AMR responded to the scene.
