Payson, UT : Keith O. Horton, 75, died in a three-vehicle crash near 800 North from a northbound I-15 on-ramp on Wednesday, April 20, 2016

A Payson man was killed in a three-vehicle crash about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after running a stop sign, police said.

Keith O. Horton, 75, failed to stop at a stop sign while turning his 2012 Ford Taurus left onto Main Street near 800 North from a northbound I-15 on-ramp, according to police. A southbound Ford Expedition struck the Taurus, killing Horton, said Payson Police Lt. Bill Wright.

Wright said he didn't know whether Horton, who was alone in his car, was wearing a seat belt. He said alcohol or drugs didn't factor into the crash, but the possibility of Horton experiencing a medical issue hadn't been ruled out Wednesday.

A Ford truck was also hit on secondary impact, though the lieutenant didn't know if it came into the path of the other vehicles at the time. One other person was treated at the site of the crash, Wright said.

Wright lamented Horton's death and asked motorists to be aware at all times.

"This has been a tragic accident," he said. "(I) would advise people please be very attentive as a driver."
