Ardmore, AL : Athens woman killed in 1-vehicle accident Tuesday morning, April 4, 2017

An Athens woman died in a one-vehicle accident on Alabama 53 this morning, according to authorities.

Limestone County Coroner Mike West identified the victim as Mary Ellen Kennedy, 55, Ninth Avenue, Athens. He said he received the call at 6:50 a.m. and pronounced her dead at 8:03 a.m.

West said Kennedy was a passenger in the vehicle that ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree, south of Ardmore.

He said Kennedy was not wearing a seat belt.

Ardmore police said Bobby Wayne Crow, 55, Alabama 251, Athens, was driving the gray Dodge Stratus when the accident occurred. He was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital.

Ardmore Police Department is investigating.
