Laurel, MS : One person dead in Jones County accident on Friday, August 5, 2016

One person is dead in an accident that happened in Jones County Friday.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to an accident on Lake Drive just after 2 p.m.

When deputies arrived on scene, they found a woman deceased. The woman was the driver of a vehicle stopped in the road because of a flat tire. Deputies determined the woman had called her family for help and may have been attempting to change the flat tire herself when the accident happened, according to JCSD.

A man driving a truck had a hit the vehicle and said he did not see the victim’s vehicle until it was too late, according to JCSD.

The accident is still under investigation, and the victim’s name is being withheld pending notification.
