Indianapolis, IN : Motorcyclist flown to Indy following two-vehicle accident on Tuesday, 3rd September 2019

A motorcyclist from Elizabethtown was transported by helicopter to an Indianapolis trauma center after being involved in a two vehicle accident Tuesday.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the area of East County Road 100S and National Road at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, deputies said.

Motorcylist Lloyd Cooper, 56, Elizabethtown, rear-ended a passenger car driven by Cherokee Joe Heath, 27, North Vernon, deputies said.

Heath’s vehicle was stopped in traffic at the time of the collision, deputies said. Cooper was ejected from his motorcycle and flown by helicopter to a trauma center in Indianapolis.

Heath, who had an outstanding Jennings County warrant, was arrested and taken to the Jennings County Jail, deputies said.

Primary deputy on the scene was Deputy Joseph Pugh with assisting deputies: Sgt. Dean Johnson, Deputy Joshua Bush, Deputy Andrew Whipker, Deputy Mark Helms.

Assisting at the scene were the Columbus Township Fire Department, Clay Township Fire Department, Columbus Regional Hospital EMS, and St. Vincent StatFlight.
