racey Spencer reached out to the Daily Republic after an article on an “Every 15 Minutes” drama at Rio Vista High School featured a recounting of the December 2008 crash that killed Ashlee Barkman and severely injured her son, Christopher Ceelen. There is more to the story.Christopher Ceelen is only a few weeks from earning his associate degree – something his family held out little hope for eight years ago.

“We were not given good news at all,” Ceelen’s mother, Tracey Spencer, said Monday about the crash that killed her son’s girlfriend, Ashlee Barkman, and left him with brain and other severe injuries. “We were not given very much hope for his recovery, so we are very happy.”
