Hopkins County, KY : Local woman hurt in Hopkins crash on Thursday, 27th December 2018

A two-vehicle crash in Hopkins County Thursday evening injured a Princeton woman, according to Madisonville Police Department reports.

Melissa Martin, 52, of Princeton, was transported to the Baptist Health Madisonville ER for treatment following the crash, which occurred at 5:10 p.m. Thursday on Nebo Road at the Rosecreek Road interchange on the west side of Madisonville.

Police said Martin was southbound on Nebo Road in a 2014 Nissan Altima, approaching the interchange, while a 1996 Nissan Sentra driven by Adam Duncan, 37, of Manitou, was stopped at a stop sign waiting to turn left onto Nebo Road.

As Duncan began to make the turn, both vehicles collided. A witness traveling in front of Martin stated that Martin did not have her vehicle's headlights illuminated while traveling in the minutes prior to the collision. Duncan told investigators that he did not see the vehicle approaching due to its lack of headlights.

An inspection of the Altima indicated its headlight switch was in the off position at the time of the crash. Duncan was uninjured, police said.
