Sterling,IL : Ashton man dies in Rockford traffic accident on January, Monday 5th 2018
John McConkey, 42, of Ashton, has been identified as the man who died in a crash Monday morning, Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz said.
The accident occurred about 7 a.m. McConkey was pronounced dead at the scene.
McConkey was driving a Ford F250 pickup northbound in the 1000 block of North Second Street when he “veered off the road and crashed into a large overhead sign [post],” said Rockford Police Assistant Deputy Chief John Pozzi.
No other information was released.
The accident remains under investigation by the Rockford Police Department. An autopsy is pending.
