Forest City, NC : One killed and another hurt in a deadly crash at Forest City on Monday, April 18th, 2016

Troopers with the N.C. Highway Patrol are investigating a deadly crash along the Highway 74 Bypass in Rutherford County that claimed an elderly woman's life and left her daughter in the hospital.
Dispatchers said the crash happened on the westbound side of the highway near the South Broadway exit.
Troopers said only one vehicle was involved in the crash. The car ran off the road and struck a tree just before 10 a.m. Monday.
A mother and daughter were in the car.
Troopers said the elderly passenger died at the scene and the driver was taken to the hospital.
Trooper Doug Walker with the N.C. Highway Patrol said the driver - a 65-year-old Charlotte woman - has been taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The driver's mother died in the crash. She has been identified as Marie Martin, 91, of Rutherfordton.
The driver was headed west on Highway 74 when she fell asleep, ran off the road to right and struck a tree, Walker said.
