Bedford, VA : Pembroke man died in single-vehicle crash in Bedford County on Wednesday night, July 20, 2016

A Pembroke man was killed Wednesday night in a single-vehicle crash in Bedford County, police said.

Leo Allen Harper Jr., 39, was driving a 1976 Chevrolet Sierra east on Virginia 743 (Bold Branch Road) when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, crossed the road and overturned, Virginia State Police said.

The crash happened at 7:59 p.m. about a quarter-mile east of Virginia 654 (Feldspar Road) in the Moneta area.

Harper was not wearing a seat belt, police said. He died at the scene.
