Carbondale, IL : One dead in Interstate 57 crash Sunday on April, Sunday 2nd 2017

One person died Sunday after a crash on Interstate 57 that left traffic stalled for several hours.

According to a report from the Illinois State Police, Franklin Reid, of Emery, Texas, was driving a semi-trailer northbound on I-57 near mile marker 67 when he crossed the median, striking head-on a Toyota Camry driven by Lauren Reeves, of Cabot, Arkansas.

Reeves died in the crash. She was 24.

Traffic was diverted to Illinois 37 for several hours as teams investigated the crash. No charges have been filed yet, as the investigation is pending.
