Fatal motorcycle crash on Bonita Beach Road

A fatal traffic crash involving a motorcycle occurred on CR-865 a short distance west of Barefoot Beach Road Sunday afternoon, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Douglas Friend, 45, was on a Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate a curve.

The motorcycle collided with the median curb. It continued to travel through both lanes of CR-865, and then collided with a fence and palm tree. Friend was transported to Gulf Coast Hospital, but his injuries were fatal.

He was not wearing a helmet.
