2 Dead In Alpine-Area Truck Crash in California
Two men were killed Thursday when a pickup truck crashed off Interstate 8 in the Alpine area, authorities reported.
The silver Ford Ranger was traveling on westbound I-8 at about 70 mph when it abruptly swerved to the right near East Victoria Drive for unknown reasons, veered off the freeway, crashed into a large oak tree and overturned shortly after 11 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver and his passenger, both of whom were wearing seat belts, died at the scene, CHP public information Officer Brian Pennings said. Their identities were not immediately confirmed.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, Pennings said.
