STURGIS, SD : Two die in crash near Sturgis on Tuesday, 25th October 2016

Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning near Sturgis.

The names of the occupants of the two vehicles involved are not being released, pending notification of families.

A 2007 Ford F-150 pickup was southbound on Bear Butte Road. A 1984 Ford F-250 pickup was traveling east on 194th Street. That vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Bear Butte Road, police said. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

The 67-year-old male driver of the Ford F-250 pickup died as a result of his injuries.

The 32-year-old female passenger in the Ford F-150 pickup was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 30-year-old male driver of that vehicle suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries.

None of the three occupants was wearing a seat belt.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
