One person is dead after a single-car collision in Aiken County on Friday, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The collision took place around 8:05 a.m. Friday at Club Drive at White Pond Road, said Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones.
According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, the driver has been identified as 67-year-old Rick Davidson.
Davidson was traveling south on Club Drive in a 2017 pickup, when the truck ran off the left side of roadway and struck a fence and several trees, Judd said.
According to the coroner's report, Davidson was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene, said the coroner's report.
As of press time it is not clear why Davidson lost control of the vehicle, said the report.
Currently the collision is under investigation and an autopsy will be performed in Newberry.
