Edgewater,MD : Woman pleads guilty to manslaughter in wreck that killed 2 on April, tuesday 25th 2017

A woman has pleaded guilty to negligent manslaughter in a Valentine’s Day car wreck that claimed the lives of two newlyweds in Edgewater.

The Capital Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/2pw6Li8 ) that 28-year-old Lauren Scott pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court as part of a plea agreement.

On Feb. 14, 2016 Scott crashed into a car driven by 21-year-old Daniel Amos. He and his wife, 20-year-old Kayla Amos, were killed in the wreck. Police say Scott veered into oncoming traffic.

Scott tested positive for opioids and cannabis at the time of the wreck. Under the terms of the agreement Scott will spend at least two years in prison and another five on supervised probation.

She will be sentenced in June.
