Lawrence, MA : Man killed in Derry car accident on Friday, April 7, 2017

An adult male died in a car crash just after 5 p.m. Friday, when his vehicle struck a tree on English Range Road.

The car hit a tree. Derry police Capt. Vern Thomas said it was too early to tell what caused the accident.

A Crime Scene Investigation team was on scene as well on the quiet Derry street, where two police cruisers had blocked through traffic, with Thomas saying police would be on scene for hours.

"This will take hours to do and our conclusions won't be available for weeks," Thomas said.

Thomas did not identify the man, whose family had not been notified.

The driver was in late 30, and was taken to Parkland Medical Center by ambulance as first responders attempted to save him.

Passersby and other cars attempted to help the man, as well, Thomas said.
