A man died in an Onslow County motorcycle wreck Wednesday evening.
William Schrader, 56, was killed after he failed to negotiate a sharp, right turn along Old 30 where the two-lane road intersects at Waters Road in Jacksonville, about a mile east of Piney Green, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Schrader was heading east when his bike — a three-wheeled motorcycle — came into the curve and traveled straight crossing the westbound lane and coming to rest in the asphalt parking lot of the Old 30 Kwik Mart Stop, according to the NCSHP.
N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to the wreck at 6:20 p.m.
Authorities say Schrader was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the wreck and was thrown from the motorcycle upon impact. Schrader died at the scene, according to the NCSHP.
