Omaha,NE : Motorcyclist died after crash in Omaha on April, thursday 27th 2017

A motorcyclist died Thursday night in central Omaha when he fell and slid under another vehicle stopped in traffic, police said.

Thomas J. Coffman, 32, was traveling about 100 mph north on 72nd Street when he crested a hill near Hickory Street about 7:30 p.m., police said, drawing on the account of witnesses.

He attempted to brake for stopped traffic ahead of him.

The motorcycle, a 2007 Kawasaki ZX14, and Coffman became separated, and he slid under a 2001 Toyota 4Runner.

The motorcycle continued to slide, and its gas tank also separated, causing a large fuel spill and fire.

Coffman, who lived in Omaha, was taken to Nebraska Medical Center, where he died. He was wearing a helmet, police said.
