PRATT COUNTY, KS : Couple killed after crashing into truck that was stopped on Kansas highway on Saturday, 24th February 2024

Two people died Saturday morning after a crash in Pratt County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened just after 11 a.m. on Saturday when a 1978 Ford pickup truck was stopped in the eastbound lane of Kansas Highway 42, east of Sawyer, Kansas.

The driver of the truck was out of the vehicle and in the ditch, the KHP said. A couple traveling eastbound in the eastbound lane struck the pickup truck in the rear.

The man and woman, identified as 90-year-old Uyel and 84-year-old Dovie Martin, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, a 31-year-old man from Sawyer, Kansas, was not injured.
