FAIRMONT, WV : Tractor-trailer accident leads to I-79 closure on Saturday, December 17th 2016
A tractor-trailer accident that happened early Saturday morning had Interstate 79 shut down for multiple hours.
The accident was reported at 2:22 a.m. when a tractor-trailer jack-knifed into the guard rail near the 130-mile marker. The tractor trailer then caught on fire, said the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
Two other vehicles were involved in the accident, as well.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department said they are pretty sure that the icy roads played a part in the accident.
No injuries were reported.
Northbound and southbound lanes were closed after the accident for clean-up.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department said the southbound lane is currently open and there is a deputy on duty controlling traffic.
Marion County Sheriff’s Department, White Hall Police, Marion County Rescue Squad, Barrackville Volunteer Fire Department, Winfield Volunteer Fire Department and Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident.
