Miami, FL : Broward man dies in a one-car crash on U.S. 1 in Islamorada Saturday night, August 13, 2016

A Broward County man died Saturday night in a one-car crash, making him Monroe County’s 20th traffic fatality of the year.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Charles Ehmann, 52, of Pembroke Pines was driving a 1981 Volkswagen Jetta east on List Street around mile marker 82 of U.S. 1 in Islamorada. He apparently lost control of the car after a “medical emergency” at 8:15 p.m. and ran into a mailbox.

He was taken to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier, where he was declared dead.
