A woman was killed following a wreck that involved an off-duty Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer in east Charlotte Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
CMPD was called to the crash at around 12:25 p.m. in the 500 block of West Sugar Creek Road near Sofley Road, where a marked patrol car and a 1992 Honda Accord had collided. The woman who was driving the Honda was taken to Carolinas Medical Center by MEDIC, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel, authorities said.
Police identified her as Lachandra Ciera McCorkle, who had just turned 25 last Sunday.
